The White Llama
The White Llama
The White Llama was founded in 1990 by Raul Osorio, a native Peruvian. The purpose of his venture was to boost the informal market of the Andes and to bring the beauty of their indigenous artwork to our marketplace.
It took years of hard work to find a unique and diverse line of hand - crafted items. Raul worked closely with his artisans to develop a new product line of raw cotton clothing for adults and children. This beautiful line of natural, unbleached cotton features intricate designs woven into the fabric while much of the children's clothing is delightfully adorned with appliques.
You can also find a beautiful variety of refined Alpaca clothing such as ponchos, capes, sweaters, cardigans, scarfs, hats, gloves, socks and more!
A few of the one-of-a-kind finds you will see at White Llama are the vintage weavings that have been incorporated into purses, bags and backpacks.
If you are looking for tapestries and textiles, you will love the beautiful weavings made from sheep wool or 100% Alpaca fiber. Most of the designs reflect textiles of the Incan Empire, their calendar and their beliefs. The arpilleros depict the daily life of native Peruvians from different regions.
Raul is known for his careful selection of tapestries, hand-made only by master weavers throughout Peru. One such master weaver is Alfonso Sulca, who is known for his incredible three dimensional designs. Sulca is considered to be one of the top master weavers in Peru, and has been recognized by several governmental institutions throughout Latin America because he was able to revive the ancient and hidden knowledge of the Inca's textiles.
Child friendly toys such as finger-puppets and musical instruments are among what is considered to be educational toys.
